Signing a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Independent Election Commission and Philadelphia University

On Wednesday, 2/11/2022, a cooperation agreement was signed between Philadelphia University and the Independent Election Commission, where the agreement was signed onbehalf of Philadelphia University, Prof. Dr. Moataz Al-Sheikh Salem, President of the University, and on behalf of the Independent Commission, His Excellency Dr. Raed Al-Adwan, member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, and this agreement was signed between the two parties at Philadelphia University.

This agreement aims to provide frameworks for joint cooperation between the two parties in the fields of awareness, training and education and through cooperation in theestablishment and development of joint academic and training programs that aim to enhance awareness among young people, which are represented in the management of parliamentary and local elections, awareness  in partisan work, and increasing political, partisan and electoral participation for young students at the university through holding training courses, seminars, workshops and scientific conferences of common interest, especially in political and partisan participation.  Engage in political parties as the main supporter of real political development.

Dr. Al-Adwan praised the role of the university in embracing the royal trend calling for empowering young people to engage in partisan work, and that Philadelphia University was chosen for its leadership and reputation in the educational and academic community.
Dr. Moataz Sheikh Salem said that the memorandum comes as a commitment from the university to translate the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, may God protect and preserve him, calling for improving the partisan environment and educating Jordanian youth about the importance of political action, adding that this stage needs to intensify efforts and continuous improvement of joint training programs between the two sides and activate activities offered to students through these programmes.

This will be the implementation of the I Participate in Universities program for Jordanian students, which aims to build the capacities of students and enhance their knowledge in the field of political participation, democracy and decision-making so that the participants engage in dialogue sessions accompanied by various activities inside and outside the university, such as field visits to institutions, decision-making departments and civil society institutions.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Dr. Raed Al-Adwan, Mr. Aws Qutaishat / Director of the Partnership Project at the Authority, Mr. Qais Irshidat from Media andPhiladelphia University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Sartawi, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Amani Jarrar, Director of International Relations, and Dr. Imad Al-Halawani, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the Career Guidance Department, responsible for implementing the program within the university.
