The Independent Election Commission meets the women's sector in the Rusaifah District

Jihad Al-Momani, member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, reviewed today in Al-Rusaifah District / Zarqa Governorate, the most prominent developments on the electoral and political parties laws, which are consideredto be among the outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, and this meeting comes within a series of meetings held by the Commission with the women's sector in the governorates with the aim of raising awareness and electoral education and motivating citizens to participate in political life.
Momani said that the recent constitutional amendments contributed to the empowerment of Jordanian women and strengthened their exercise of their active role and real participation in public and political life within the standards of citizenship, equality, equal opportunities, fair representation and the rule of law.
Momani stressed the need to overcome all obstacles that stand in the way of women and hinder their participation in party work or elections, and this is not limited to the legislative field, but goes beyond that to reach the societal culture that still puts restrictions on women's participation in political life in general and parties in particular.
Al-Momani indicated that the constitutional amendments also enabled the Commission to manage and organize the file of political parties, follow up on their affairs, and supervise the party financing system in accordance with the Political Parties Law No. (7) of 2022, explaining the most prominent amendments and additions to the political parties laws, and the conditions that must be met by the founding members of the party, and the percentage of women, youth and people with disabilities in relation to the number of founders, the party's statute, the procedures for merging the party into another party, and the conditions for holding the founding conference of the party, and with regard to the election law, it was increased The number of seats allocated to women (quota) in local lists, the number of seats in the national constituency and their percentage of seats in the total House of Representatives.
