IOC receives the ISO 27001:2013 international accreditation certificate related to the Information Security and Protection Management System

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced that it has officially received and obtained the ISO  27001:2013 international accreditation certificate related to the information security and protection management system for the third time in a row after conducting anexternal audit on all procedures and processes related to the international standards of the system, where the Commission is committed to applying all standards to protect all information assets to ensure that the electoral services it provides meet the best possible practices that comply with the Constitution and legislation.  Applicable and legal requirements to meet the ambition and confidence of all citizens in the electoral process.

The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Eng. Musa Al-Maaytah, stressed that the Commission is aware that the information security and protection management system must be constantly updated and improved to developthe established procedures. To achieve this, it continues to set new targets and regularly review processes and procedures. It is committed to providing full support to achieve information security objectives within the Authority, and to strive to implement relevant information security controls efficiently and effectively.

Al-Maaytah indicated that the main information center of the authority has been prepared and equipped with the latest devices and systems of surveillance, protection, and fire in accordance with the highest international standards, where the main information center has been equipped and developed with servers with high endurance capacity, which was reflected in the efficiency of performance in general.

 Al-Maaytah also stressed the Authority's keenness to deal with any potential risks and take all precautionary measures that would maintain the work and efficiency of the devices, such as providing backup power generators, in addition to the presence of vital signs monitoring devices (temperature and humidity) and firefighting systems, in addition to equipping the reserve center in Hashem Center with the same equipment and specifications. With regard to  By preserving the data and not losing it in any case, backup copies of all data were made and rotated directly between the main center and the reserve center using the best technologies in thefield of databases and equipping the electronic system with high-quality systems to protect it from any type of unauthorized access.

Through the external audit of the information security and protection management system for ISO27001:2013 certification, all administrative processes, cadres, human and training, in addition to evaluations of partners and employees, institutional development processes and how management deals with the outputs of all processes related to the audit process and according to the standards for the application of the system. 
Al-Maaytah revealed that it is not the first time that the Commission has obtained the ISO certificate, as ithas previously obtained the ISO certificate related to the quality control process for electoral administrations, and Jordan was the only country to obtain the international certificate in the field of elections at the level of the region and the Middle East., indicating  that the Commission developed  the application of  the quality management system as a framework that allowed it to document and improve its processes and activities better.
