Specialists: Updated laws are a historic opportunity to enhance women's participation in the electoral process

Specialists stressed that the political climate in Jordan today enhances women's participation in political life in general and the electoral process in particular, and that women with Jordanianintentions are the biggest beneficiaries of the laws regulating political life and updated today in accordance with the outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System.
This came during a roundtable organized by the Independent Election Commission in cooperation with the Jordanian National Commission for Women, in the presence of relevant civil society institutions andelection monitoring authorities, and with the support of the United Nations Development Program and UN Women.
Eng. Musa Al-Maaytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, said that today we have a historic opportunity to invest in this climate that supports equality of opportunities for all, and this requires believing in the importance of women's political participation first and how to benefit from the updated laws according to the outputs of the Political Modernization Committee, which women had a wide area, including adding the word Jordanian women in the constitution and expanding the base of women's participation in political parties  to politics and in the electoral law by guaranteeing their right to advanced positions. 
Maaytah stressed that the  Independent Election Commission finds that this opportunity is a clear challenge for everyone and an opportunity at the same time if it is well exploited, and this falls on the shoulders of all partners of the electoral process.
