Maaytah meets an Egyptian media delegation

The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Eng. Musa Al-Maaytah, met at the Commission's building today, an Egyptian media delegation, as part of an official visit by the delegation to the Kingdom.
Al-Maaytah reviewed the establishment of the Independent Election Commission as an independent body concerned with managing and supervising the electoral process without interference or influence from any party, as one of the fruits of political reform in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, with the aim of ensuring that parliamentary elections are held in accordance with international standards, and that gain the citizen's confidence in the electoral process and its outcomes, and build on the achievements and reform steps that have been achieved.
Al-Maaytah indicated that in 2022, and in response to the constitutional amendments and laws regulating political work emanating from the outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, the file of political parties has become one of the responsibilities of the Independent Election Commission administratively and financially, under the umbrella of the Directorate of Party Registry, without interfering with political orientations, but rather the role of the Commission is limited to the application of the law.
Al-Maaytah also reviewed, in the presence of the guest delegation, the constitutional amendments related to the lawsregulating political life in Jordan, especially the new electoral and party laws and the most prominent developments on them, which are considered outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, and the promotion of these amendments to the participation of young people in public life, and contributed to empowering them in political, economic, social and cultural life and developing capabilities and creativity.
He also pointed out that the constitutional amendments enabled women to play their active role in building society in a way that guarantees equal opportunities on the basis of justice and equity, in addition to protectingpeople with disabilities and enhancing their participation and integration in various aspects of life.
Al-Maaytah also reviewed the Commission's approach to electoral awareness and education campaigns, and the means and mechanisms to achieve the objectives of these campaigns, within their various levels, with a focus on youth and targeting students in universities through the Ana Ashek program and in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation, which contributes significantly to activating the role of youth and their involvement in political work, and enhancing thinking, dialogue and communication skills through holding interactive training sessions in universities.
The delegation appreciated the efforts made by the Election Commission in managing the elections and improving the electoral process and theadvanced level it has reached at the regional level in this field, and its keenness to consolidate democracy and support the process of political reform.
