The activities of the first "I Participate" Youth Forum kicked off today at Al al-Bayt University, and a joint cooperation agreement was signed between the Independent Electoral Commission and Al al-Bayt University, signed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Eng. Musa Al-Maayta, and the President of Al al-Bayt University, Prof. Dr. Hani Al-Damour.
In his speech at the launch ceremony, Al-Maayta said that it comes as an embodiment of the royal vision to integrate Jordanian youth into political work, which aims to contribute to building a generation that believes in its homeland and its leadership integrated with collective work instead of individual.
He added that the launch of the youth forum, in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation, coincides with the celebration of the International Youth Day, which constitutes a dialogue youth space through which topics related to the political participation of young people are discussed, to come up with proposals, visions and perceptions that enhance and activate their political, partisan, and electoral participation based on respect for diversity, pluralism and commitment to the rule of law.
Al-Maayta explained that the youth forum is an opportunity to build the capacities of students participating in the forum, through holding interactive training sessions held on campus, enhancing dialogue and communication skills, stimulating critical thinking skills, identifying issues and needs, and focusing on the concepts of national identity, active citizenship and political participation of youth, women, and people with disabilities.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Hani Al-Damour, President of the University, stressed that Al al-Bayt University was the first to understand the messages of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, and responded to the royal directives and the outputs of the Committee for the Modernization of the Political System, part of which revolves around the need to activate the role of youth and their political participation, part of which is centered on the need to activate the role of youth and their political participation.
Al-Dammour announced that Al al-Bayt University affirms its absolute support for the idea of the program (I participate) in order to enhance the role of Jordanian youth in dialogue and political activities and empower them in universities.
The agreement, which was signed on the sidelines of the launch of the forum, aims to provide a framework for deepening cooperation between the Authority and the University in the academic and practical fields, through the implementation and development of joint training programs and activities, holding training courses for university students, raising political awareness among university students, working on the inclusion of an optional teaching course, and exchanging academic and research experiences specialized in electoral affairs and political parties.
