Independent Elections organizes a dialogue session on the electoral laws and parties in Karak

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Tuesday organized a dialogue in Karak on the electoral and party laws entitled "The solution is participation", in the presence of community, party and youth events.
Sharaf al-Din Abu Rumman, Director of Communications and Media at the Commission, said that the dialogue comes out of the belief of the Commission in its role in spreading electoral awareness of the laws governing political life in Jordan, and highlighted the developments through the outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System.
He added that the Commission embodies the approach of communicating with the partners of the electoral process in all governorates of the Kingdom with representatives of civil society institutions and parties with a focus on the sectors of women and youth and motivating them to participate effectively in political life in general and parties in particular.
He pointed out that this meeting comes as part of a series of meetings as part of an awareness campaign carried out by the Commission with the aim of strengthening the democratic path and accelerating the wheel of political reform, to achieve the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II, where he addressed the role and tasks of the Commission within the framework of its new powers, especially with regard to the follow-up of the affairs of political parties and their role in supervising the elections.
Abu Rumman pointed to the most fundamental amendments contained in the electoral and party laws, especially with regard to youth, women, and parties, in terms of the age of election, party lists, the proportions of representation of women and youth, and the importance of their active participation in party and political programmatic life, especially university students.
For her part, the President of the Abaq Al-Janoub Charitable Association, Maysoon Al-Mubaydeen, during her management of the dialogue, stressed the importance of engaging in the programmatic party life belonging to the homeland, and the importance of spreading democratic culture among youth and women.
