Aqaba education and independent election implement political school student conference

To complete the program of political school student conferences implemented by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Independent Electoral Commission and the Center for Life-Monitor, the Aqaba Directorate on Wednesday implemented a political student conference in which 100 students participated.
The Secretary General of the Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Awad Karadsha, said that the Independent Electoral Commission has a responsibility to manage the electoral process at all stages and was recently entrusted with monitoring and coordinating the work of the parties in accordance with the constitutional amendments and laws that have been adopted, and pointed out that the authority is currently working on a range of projects, programs and plans that will contribute to enhancing citizens' awareness of laws dealing with political action, and stressed that the authority pays special attention to young people through the guidance of programs Dedicated to building the capacity of young people to promote their integration into politics.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Dr. Abdul Wahab al-Hajjaj, Director of Educational and Technical Affairs at the Aqaba Education Directorate, discussed the importance of participating in these conferences for students to promote active citizenship, which aims to promote proper participation.
The session was attended by a member of the Royal Commission for the Modernization of the Political System Mr. Madallah Tarawneh, And Professor Khalid Abu Al-Ezz and moderated the session Dr. Zakaria Bani Amer, participants talked about the outcomes of the Royal Commission and what laws concern the political system and the most important changes that have taken place, and the participants discussed the changes that have taken place in the election law, especially the reduction of the age of the candidate for 25 years and the existence of a national constituency dedicated to parties by 41 seats, as well as the role of the independent electoral body in the management of the process The elections and their future plans to integrate young people into politics, students listened to changes to the law of parties and the mechanism of their formation, and students presented a series of interactive interventions and questions during the dialogue session.
It is worth mentioning that the program of political school student conferences will be implemented in all provinces of the Kingdom and in fact 15 conferences targeting students aged 15-16 in grades 10 and 11.
