Independent Election responsible for setting nomination and voting dates for the election of chambers of industry and commerce

Independent Electoral Commission media spokesman Mohamed Khair al-Rawashda confirmed that the authority has the exclusive power to set the date for voting for the chambers of industry elections to be held before the end of this year. He stressed that the implementation of the electoral calendar dates is also the prerogative of the Authority in accordance with article (8/a) of the Chamber of Industry system and article (10/a) of the Chamber of Commerce system, which gives the Authority the absolute right to take any measures governing the electoral process.
Al-Rawashda explained in press statements that the decision to dissolve the councils of chambers of industry and commerce, or to announce the holding of the elections of chambers, is the prerogative of the government represented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in accordance with the regulations in force, but the authority is the decision maker in determining the date of voting and candidacy and the nature of the instructions to be issued to carry out its work to ensure the integrity of the electoral process in all aspects.
He stressed that the Authority is ready through its self-qualified cadres, and trained support staff, as a result of the accumulation of experience over the previous electoral seasons, to hold elections for chambers of industry after ensuring the availability of the conditions guaranteeing the standards of integrity, transparency, justice and neutrality, taking advantage of the recommendations of the committees electing chambers for the previous elections held in 2018, documented in the archives of the Authority, in particular the recommendation to determine the date of adoption of the electoral register, and revising the voter records of the industrial and commercial chambers, within fair periods.
