Al-Kalalda meets political parties

February 26, 2022 Dr. Khalid Al-Kalalda, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, met at the headquarters of the Commission a number of secretaries-general of political parties and their representatives, as part of communication with the partners of the electoral process, including the parties, in light of the commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for March 22. Kalalda stressed that under the constitutional amendments, the department of legal, financial and administrative affairs of the parties has become the authority of the authority, which includes registration, follow-up of parties and financing through a unit created specifically for this purpose. He reviewed the guarantees of integrity and procedures followed by the Commission in this area at all stages of the democratic process, in addition to the stages of the electoral process, from the registration phase to the candidacy and electoral propaganda to the stage of results now. The great challenge facing the commission is to restore voter confidence in the electoral process and this is what the commission sought by educating citizens, explaining the laws and increasing the participation rate in the electoral process. In answering questions from the audience, Kalalda also noted that the commission is not a party to political conflicts, that it represents the role of a judge who seeks justice and works to apply standards of integrity and transparency, and that the commission stands at one distance from all. At the end of the meeting, there was an extensive dialogue in which the students answered the questions and inquiries of the audience.
