Dialogue meeting between independent election and civil society institutions in Karak
February 23, 2022 In continuation of the approach of communication and openness pursued by the Independent Electoral Commission since its inception, a dialogue meeting was held today at The University of Moata in light of the Commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for March 22, 2022. Dr. Zuhair Abu Fares, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, reviewed the process of progressive political reform and the importance of restoring voter confidence in the electoral process, explaining the measures taken by the Commission to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process at all stages, pointing out that the commission will not allow the fraud and manipulation of the will of voters. Abu Fares also stressed the authority's keenness to cooperate with civil society institutions and seek to take all necessary measures to enable these institutions to participate in all stages of the electoral process and monitor the elections in accordance with Jordanian legislation and best practices.
Abu Fares also said that the Authority has worked on all facilities that enable persons with disabilities to exercise their right to the electoral process in a candidate, election and volunteering, and that the Authority has worked to equip special model polling stations in line with the circumstances of this category. Dr. Abir Dabana, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, explained the importance of the authority's role in raising awareness, education, focusing on the women's and youth sectors, promoting their political participation and upgrading their electoral culture. Dabana also reviewed the legal measures taken by the Authority in the stage of electoral propaganda and the fight against black money, safety measures in order to maintain the safety and health of citizens and participants in the electoral process, in addition to the voting mechanism and the method of calculating results.
