Independent election meets civil society institutions in Balqa 

February 19, 2022  The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Saturday held a dialogue meeting with civil society organizations in Al-Balqa province, in light of preparations by the commission to hold elections for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for March 22. Dr. Zuhair Abu Fares, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, stressed the independence of the commission in its work and its efforts to restore voter confidence in the electoral process and the measures that follow to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Abu Fares pointed out that the Authority has taken all the necessary health measures to hold the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Council of the Secretariat of Oman, in a safe environment to maintain the health of citizens and participants in the electoral process, especially in light of the Corona pandemic through its reflection on the executive instructions governing the electoral process, noting that the authority worked to train and rehabilitate the human resources working with it and acquire the necessary skills to enable it to manage the electoral process to the fullest. Ammar Al Husseini, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, said it was important to hold these meetings with the commission's partners, including civil society institutions, for its active role in the success of the electoral process at all stages, and that the commission is working hard to fight black money in all its forms and with all legal tools and methods.  Husseini added that the authority has accumulated sufficient experience to enable it to hold free and fair elections that are transparent and impartial and promote popular participation and participation in decision-making, explaining that the authority cooperates continuously with civil society institutions to train young people and give them the opportunity to participate in the elections voluntarily, running and electing.  At the end of the meeting, abu Fares and Husseini answered questions, inquiries and observations of the participants.
