February 07, 2022  The Independent Electoral Commission announced the end of the first day of the reception of applications for elections for provincial councils, municipal councils, and the Amman Secretariat Council, which is scheduled to take place on March 22, with 3,195 candidates on the first day of the candidacy. According to the media spokesman of the Independent Electoral Commission "Mohammed Khair" Al-Rawashda and with the end of the official working hours of the first day of candidacy, the number of applicants for the membership of the provincial councils (684) candidates, including (616) males and (68) females. The number of candidates for the presidency of municipal councils was all male, while the candidates for municipal councillors were (1,974), including (1,583) males, 391 females and 75 candidates, including (61) males and 14 females. Al-Rawashda added that the commission has begun receiving applications from the presidents of the election and checking them in preparation for submitting them to the Board of Commissioners for decision in accordance with the provisions of the law. According to the executive instructions for running for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council for 2021, the Board of Commissioners decides to apply for admission or rejection within seven days of the day after the expiry of the application, knowing that the election committee informs the applicant or his agent of the decision of the Board of Commissioners in writing to accept or reject the application, with the reasons for rejecting the address specified by the candidate for notification, and the decision of the Board of Commissioners shall be subject to appeal to the courts of first instance in the first instance of rejection. If the rejected wishes their applications to object.
