Independent Electoral Commission meets civil society institutions in Mafraq 

February 6, 2022  The Independent Electoral Commission held a awareness meeting today with civil society institutions in Mafraq province on the role of civil society institutions in supporting the electoral process, which comes as part of the commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for March. Dr. Abir Dabana, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, stressed the authority's approach and its application of the strategy of communication and communication with the partners of the electoral process and the role of civil society institutions in the success of the electoral process, from the registration stage to the candidacy, voting and counting to the announcement of the results. Dabana also explained the role of the Independent Electoral Commission in spreading awareness, informing citizens of their political rights and enabling all groups of society to exercise their right to run and vote. Ammar Al Husseini, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, reviewed the legal framework of the Authority and its procedures in maintaining the safety of citizens under Corona, stressing the importance of this meeting, which is held as part of a series of meetings held by the Authority with civil society institutions and the youth and women sector as partners in the electoral process as part of its annual plan in accordance with the strategy of information, communication, awareness and education. Husseini also showed the measures followed by the Commission to facilitate the category of disabled people and enable them to exercise their right to vote easily, as the Commission has prepared model polling stations that are in line with their physical potential, given them priority in voting and allowed voters who are unable to exercise their right to vote themselves to choose facilities to assist them. At the end of the meeting, there was an extensive dialogue in which the Commission answered questions from the audience.
