Launch of the training program for media coverage of the upcoming elections 

January 23, 2022 The training program " Press coverage of the provincial councils, municipal councils and amman secretariat council elections, which is scheduled to take place next March, was launched today at the headquarters of the Independent Electoral Commission and in cooperation with the Training Center of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate. Jihad al-Momani, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, stressed the importance of the participatory and integrative relationship between the Authority and the media in all its forms, based on national, impartiality, professionalism, and equality.  Al-Momani praised the role of the media in the success of the electoral process at all stages, noting that the Independent Electoral Commission has prepared a special training guide for media and journalists in accordance with the law of local administration and the law of the Secretariat of Oman, with the aim of raising awareness and electoral education in addition to the executive instructions for the adoption of journalists, media or workers in the media institutions visual, audio and read to cover the course of the electoral process, in addition to 
 the legal terms used in the electoral process from the stage of preparing tables to announcing  Results. Imad Abdul Rahman, director of the Training Center of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate, said in his speech at the opening that the meeting will be part of a series of meetings to be held by the Council of the Journalists Syndicate to activate its partnership with national institutions that are active in terms of national benefits and strengthen the role of the various media in the upcoming elections, pointing out that other training courses will be organized in the provinces. Abdul Rahman also said that the Journalist Training Center has taken it upon itself to develop and enhance professional knowledge in various forms and arts of journalism and modern digital media, which reflects positively on the citizen and enables him to make the right decision.  During a training session, coach and media advisor Ziad Al-Rubai explained the importance of the patterns and methods of election coverage, specialized coverage of elections and their types, in addition to how and how and how to write this coverage, and the dissemination of electoral concepts for citizens, which reflects positively on the performance of the journalist in particular and on the electoral process in general. Dr. Sakher Al-Khasawneh also reviewed the legislation governing journalistic work during the elections, the ethics of journalistic work and the professional and transparent handling of events. Dr. Abir Dabaneh, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Authority, concluded the first day of training, stressing the importance of these meetings in spreading awareness and knowledge transfer to journalists as real partners in the electoral process, praising the role of the Journalists Syndicate in this initiative, which coincides with the commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils, and the Amman Secretariat Council. The press coverage cycle for the provincial council elections, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council will last for four consecutive days, including media, professional standards, parties, elections, election campaigns for candidates, voting, counting and appeals.
