Independent Election Holds Awareness Meeting with Jordanian Bar Association

January 6, 2022  The Independent Electoral Commission held a meeting today in cooperation with the Jordanian Bar Association (Capital Province) - at the Media Center of the Authority - a awareness meeting as part of the "Justice and Electoral Justice" program organized by the Authority and includes all provinces of the Kingdom. According to Dr. Abir Dabana, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, this program aims to establish and strengthen the relationship with all partners in the electoral process, including the Jordanian Bar Association and civil society institutions and organizations, because of its role in the success of the electoral process at all stages. The programme also aimed to continue with an open approach and enshrine the principle of electoral justice in elections administered and supervised by the Commission, so the regulatory framework for the electoral process and the role of the judiciary in protecting the electoral process and the integrity guarantees adopted by the Independent Electoral Commission had been focused. He added that it is important to discuss the procedural framework for appeals for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for Next March, and the consequences of accepting or rejecting the appeal in the courts of jurisdiction. At the end of the meeting, there was an extensive dialogue in which the Commission answered the questions and inquiries of the audience.
