The Independent Electoral Commission held a series of focus group meetings aimed primarily at the citizen in order to evaluate the awareness and education campaign presented by the Commission in the municipal elections and governorate councils in 2017. According to Dr. Khaled Al-Kalaldeh, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Independent Electoral Commission, this campaign aimed to open up and communicate with the partners of the electoral process and related parties in order to increase citizens' awareness of the importance of political participation in general and elections in particular, using all levels of awareness ,which is divided into voter information, voter awareness, and civic education.
Al Kalaldeh said that the focus groups discussed during the meetings organized by the Commission in the north, center and south a number of challenges that faced the process of education and education in the previous elections, and provide observations that contribute to improving the electoral process in the future. A discussion was made of the tools that were used and the importance of each tool and its accessibility to the voter. The participants appreciated the role of the awareness-raising agency, especially the spreading in all governorates, diversifying the tools and using the means of social communication, and reaching different voters in a clear and simple language despite the recent laws and their difficulties. It is noteworthy that the slogans targeted a group of young people of different levels of education and culture , with various functions of those concerned and non concerned of the electoral process.
