Russian Ambassador Visits Independent Electoral Commission

HE the Russian ambassador to Jordan, Boris Bolotin, visited the Independent Electoral Commission and met its Chairman Dr. Khaled Al-Kalaldeh in the presence of the members of the Board of Commissioners.

During the meeting, Al-Kalaldeh reviewed the history of the Commission and the constitutional amendments that expanded its authority, as well as he highlighted  the challenges that the Commission faced in managing various electoral processes, especially that the Commission conducted last year two democratic elections in one day; the municipal and the governorate councils’ elections.

Al-Kalaldeh also stressed the Commission’s keenness to cooperate with partners and electoral administrations to benefit from their practical experiences. He explained that the Commission was able to ensure guarantees of integrity and transparency and thus gained the citizens’ trust, which contributed to increase popular participation in the elections in general. He also reviewed the practical steps to establish the Institute of Electoral Administrations in the Commission.

For his part, Bolotin commended the remarkable development of the Independent Electoral Commission and its ability to conduct electoral operations efficiently and professionally.
