Abu Fares: Ballot Boxes are True Embodiment of People’s Will
Publication date: April 4th, 2019
Dr. Zuheir Abu Fares, a member in the Board of Commissioners of IEC, emphasized that ballot boxes are the true reflection of people’s free will to contribute in the formation of their future and to extend the margin of their participation in the decision making.
This was during his participation in a conference held in the University of Petra under the title “The Vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II - A Roadmap towards the State of Citizenship and the Development of the Society”.
Moreover, Abu Fares reviewed the political life of the Jordanian state since the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan highlighting the circumstances and challenges that faced Jordan along its historical course, the aspirations of the Zionist movement in the region of Jordan, and the consequences of the so-called Arab spring and its reflections that still shake wide regions in the Arab World pointing to the need to turn those challenges into opportunities to be a catalyst for reform and development.
He also clarified that Jordan has made its choice since the eighties to be a popular and official option at the same time towards the development of democratic and political life and to broaden the contribution in decision-making through the ballot boxes.
