Publicizing the permanent headquarters of the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies in Amman
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has planned a party for publicizing the permanent headquarters of the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies in the capital Amman in the presence of a number of relevant officials, bodies, and organizations and in the presence of executive board members from fraternal Arab countries.
Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission –president of the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies-, Dr. Khaled AlKalalda has confirmed that establishing headquarters for the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies in Jordan is just an emphasis for the central role that Jordan is playing and the importance it has in this area.
Alkalalda has also added that the Independent Election Commission is eager to build and strengthen cooperative relationships with electoral managements and relevant organizations, aimed to technical networking between Arab electoral managements and to draw on their experiences in a tangible and scientific way.
Alkalalda had also reviewed the idea of establishing the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies which was raised at a regional encounter in the Dead Sea years ago with the involvement of Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Yemen and it has been officially declared in the Lebanese capital, Beirut in 2015.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies, the executive director of the Central Election Commission –Palestine-, Hisham Kuhail has stated that the organization in four years, has been able to increase the number of its members to (11) members within the category of permanent member stating that the organization had signed many memorandums of cooperation with regional and international institutions and non-Arab Electoral Managements, he also pointed out that the establishment of this headquarter in the Jordanian Capital, Amman is the result of the efforts of the Independent Election Commission, and he added that the United Nations Development Programme for the Arab Region through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency are the supportive partners for the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies since its establishment.
