Al-Kalaldeh: Media is an Essential Partner in the Electoral Process

Dr. Khaled Al-Kalaldeh, IEC Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, stressed that media is a major partner and an important factor for the success of the electoral process. This came during a meeting with a number of websites’ editors and publishers within a series of meetings held by the Commission with its partners. 

Al-Kalaldeh pointed out that media is responsible for both: monitoring the Commission and participating in raising awareness regarding the electoral process.  At the same time he noted that media is the citizens’ watching eye over the Commission’s procedures in dealing with any issue related to electoral affaires. As well, media is invited to correct Commission’s compass in case it deviated from the right track. 

He added, the Commission has worked on assessing trainers in terms of cadres and electronic linkage system, and has implemented a comprehensive program to evaluate the trainers on the procedures of the electoral process.

He mentioned as well that the Commission has held several training courses for employees to acquire the necessary skills needed by the Commission’s work nature such as English and leadership skills, in addition to conducting training courses for youth sectors in the Jordanian political parties, including conflict management, negotiation and conflict strategies and mediation for electoral process partners.
