The General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Electoral Administrations holds its fifth meeting in Amman

The Arab Association of Electoral Administrations held its fifth meeting in Amman, chaired by the President of the Arab Organization of Electoral Administrations and the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Mauritania), Mr. Mohamed Val Bilal.
Mohamed Val Bilal delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the fifth session of the General Assembly of the Organization in the presence of the heads and members of the delegations of the Arab electoral administrations, and the President and members of the Executive Bureau of the Organization, in which he said:
The convening of the General Assembly this time was somewhat later than usual, citing the restrictions and challenges imposed by the Corona pandemic on everyone, but now that these challenges have faded, it is possible to hold face-to-face meetings to discuss the fundamental issues related to the nature of the work of the Organization.
Mohammed Fall added; I take this opportunity to welcome in particular His Excellency Brother Eng. Musa Al-Maayta, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, whose presence today alongside us constitutes a qualitative addition to the benefit of the Organization, and the continuous thanks to brotherly Jordan where he was credited with hosting the Organization and consolidating its presence and continuity of work on this Hashemite giving land. They have all of us our sincere thanks and gratitude.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, Eng. Musa Al-Maayta, also spoke at the opening ceremony, where he welcomed the participants and expressed his pride that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is the headquarters country of the Arab Organization of Electoral Administrations, this organization, through which we are keen to exchange scientific and practical experiences in the management of electoral processes, and to unite our efforts to serve the voter in our Arab homeland, who you know and know that they expect a lot from us in strengthening the pillars of democracies that we all seek to enable to advance our societies and values in the best way.
Al-Maayta explained that as we meet today to put in our eyes the need to preserve the vision of the organization with professional Arab electoral administrations for credible elections that strengthen the democratic process, and to achieve the direct objectives of strengthening the institutional and professional practices in the Arab region, consolidating the principle of independence and impartiality of electoral administrations and contributing to the dissemination of electoral knowledge.
He pointed out that the expansion of effective membership and strategic partnerships and their institutionalization of a direct entitlement today, which requires us to develop direct plans to achieve it, for the benefit of all Arab countries and voters in their countries because of the successive successes achieved by the Organization in its few years of life despite the challenges it faced, the most prominent of which was the period of the Covid pandemic and the resulting difficulty of meeting meetings.
He also stressed the importance of launching the Arab Youth Network from Amman tomorrow under the patronage of His Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, may Allah protect and protect him, to hope that this network will constitute a new success for the organization similar to the success of the Arab Network for Women, which launched its awareness campaign in Ramallah and regionally from Amman at the end of 2021.
On the sidelines of the fifth meeting of the Arab Organization of Electoral Administrations, Ms. Halima Ismail, President of the Independent National Electoral Commission - Somalia, was elected President of the General Assembly for the fifth session, and the efforts made to establish the Arab Network for Youth in Elections and its priorities for work during the coming period were reviewed, in addition to a presentation of the most important achievements of the Arab Network for Women in Elections, and the election of the Steering Committee of the Arab Network for Youth in Elections in preparation for its participation in the regional conference on the role of youth in the process. The elections will be held on the sidelines of the current session of the General Assembly on August 23-24.
