Ajloun and Independent Election Education Hold Political School Student Conference

To complement the program of political school student conferences implemented by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Independent Electoral Commission and the Center for Life-Monitor, Ajloun Directorate on Monday carried out a school political student conference in which 140 students participated.
Mr. Jihad Al-Momani, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, spoke to the efforts of the Independent Electoral Commission, which began to work to complete the process of political modernization and developed future plans within the new framework of party and electoral work, and stressed the full readiness of the commission to work participatory with any body in order to improve the electoral and party process, to reach a sophisticated political life or at least keep pace with the countries of the world, and reviewed the functions of the Independent Electoral Commission after the new constitutional amendments related to the transfer of the party file to the commission. Al Ain Jamil al-Nimri said that today we are facing an important stage in the history of the Jordanian state, pointing out the importance of party work and the importance of youth involvement in collective party work, which would be a way to reach parliament, as al-Nimri presented to students the methodology of the work of the royal committee, which made recommendations of the election law, parties, constitutional amendments, local administration, youth and women, al-Nimri said that the percentage of parties currently in the new election law will reach 30% and this percentage can increase if successful Parties at the local level, he added, adding that the proportion of parties will increase in the upcoming parliaments.
In his turn, the director of the Directorate of Education Mr. Ahmed Malkawi Ajloun expressed the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Independent Electoral Commission and monitor in the implementation of these conferences, which will have a very positive impact on students, especially since they will be new voters during the upcoming elections, and praised malkawi's interaction of students in Ajloun directorate with extracurricular activities that will contribute to the promotion and development of students' skills in various walks, and Malakawi stressed that all activities and events that are implemented come in harmony With royal aspirations to modernize political life and develop it to be more inclusive and fair to all, Malkawi said that these conferences come in the midst of the celebrations of the homeland independence day, sit-down day and army day, and are implemented in a style that contributes to enhancing the confidence of the student to express his opinions and aspirations and allows students to talk to decision makers and discuss the priorities and aspirations that students have.
The participants talked about the outcomes of the Royal Commission and what laws concern the political system and the most important changes that have taken place, and the participants discussed the changes that have taken place on the election law, especially the reduction of the age of the candidate for 25 years and the existence of a national constituency dedicated to the parties by 41 seats, as well as the role of the Independent Electoral Commission in the management of the electoral process and its future plans to integrate young people into politics, students listened to changes to the law of parties and the mechanism of their formation, and students presented a group of Interactive interventions and questions during the dialogue session.
It is worth mentioning that the program of political school student conferences will be implemented in all provinces of the Kingdom and in fact 15 conferences targeting students aged 15-16 in grades 10 and 11.
