Independent election: deadline for withdrawal from candidacy expires 

March 07, 2022  The Independent Electoral Commission announced today that the deadline for the withdrawal of candidates from the elections for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council has expired. According to the media spokesman of the Authority Mohammed Khair Al-Rawashda, the number of candidates withdrawing from the upcoming elections (144) candidates, including (128) males, and (16) females, where the number of withdrawals from the candidacy for the presidency of the municipality (51) candidates, all male, and the number of withdrawals from Candidates for the elections for the membership of the provincial councils (24), including (19) males, (5) females, and the number of withdrawals from the elections for the membership of the municipal council (65) candidates and candidates of them (54) male and (11) female, and the number of withdrawals from the candidacy For membership of the Amman Secretariat Council (4) candidates, all male, to become the total number of candidates for the elections of provincial councils and municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council after the withdrawals (4,647) candidates, including (3,801) males, and (846) females. Under executive instructions No. 4 for 2021, to run for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council, any candidate may withdraw his candidacy by submitting a written application to the president 14 days before the official date and no withdrawal of any candidate after the end of this term shall be counted, and the Authority must announce the withdrawal of any candidate in the municipal/constituency area on its website. It is noteworthy that the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission has set the 22nd of this month as the date for voting for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Council of the Secretariat of Oman .
