Al-Kalaldeh meets a number of columnists in the daily newspapers

March 2, 2022 Dr. Khaled Al-Kalaldeh, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, met with a number of columnists in the Jordanian daily newspapers as part of a series of meetings held by the Authority with journalists and media, which come in light of the commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for The 22nd of this month. Kalaldeh stressed that this meeting reflects the policy of openness pursued by the Commission with the partners of the electoral process, including the media in all its forms, which is a key pillar of the electoral process. He also reviewed the preparations of the Independent Electoral Commission for the holding of elections for provincial councils, municipal councils, and the Amman Secretariat Council, while referring to the awareness and education campaigns launched by the Authority to encourage citizens to participate in the elections and expand their participation in decision making. He also reviewed the stages of the electoral process from registration, candidacy, electoral propaganda, and polling day to the announcement of the results, explaining the measures taken by the Commission to increase the level of integrity of the electoral process and guarantees of transparency.  Kalalda revealed that the Independent Electoral Commission has already begun last year to receive students at the Electoral Institute accepted to study the higher diploma in electoral studies and management, which aims to promote electoral awareness and develop the skills of the staff of the Authority and those interested in the electoral process locally, regionally and internationally.  He pointed out that the Authority allocated seats and scholarships to political parties to obtain a higher diploma in electoral studies and its management within competitive conditions among party members. During the meeting there was an extensive discussion where the students listened to the remarks of the writers and answered their questions and inquiries
