Dr. Khaled Kalaldeh, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, affirmed the keenness of the Independent Election Commission to support political parties to continue the Jordanian democratic process, during a meeting with a number of general secretaries and representatives of Jordanian political parties at the Commission's building.
During the meeting, Kalaldeh reviewed the mechanism of the commission's introduction of the Higher Diploma in Electoral Policies and its management Program in cooperation with the University of Jordan, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the Arab region in general.
Kalaldeh also stressed the keenness of the Independent Election Commission to allocate seats and scholarships at the Jordanian Electoral Institute for political party affiliates to obtain a higher diploma in electoral studies and its management within competitive conditions, in order to push the partisan life forward by allocating a number of grants for parties and their affiliates under competitive conditions.
According to Kalaldeh, this program aims to provide students with a general idea of elections through the context of democratic governance, the history of various electoral experiences, and the management of the electoral process according to specific foundations and criteria.
Al-Kalaldeh also reviewed the mechanism for submitting applications for scholarships, the documents required upon admission, the foundations and conditions for obtaining the grant in general, in addition to the study plan for the program and practical training for the procedural aspects of managing the electoral process.
Al-Kalaldeh indicated that students will be admitted into this program according to the conditions and criteria set by the Electoral Institute in the Independent Election Commission, in cooperation with Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies, provided that the commission’s building is the place designated for practical and theoretical teaching. Note that the intention is to renew these scholarships for each upcoming academic year, and the communications to secure funding have reached their final stages.
