National Coalition of Political Parties visits IEC
A delegation representing the National Coalition of Political Parties in Jordan has visited the Independent Election Commission and met Dr. Khaled Kalaldeh, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners with the presence of the Board’s members.
Al-Kalaldeh emphasized, at the beginning of the meeting, the importance of communicating with political parties and enhancing the principle of partnership and coordination due to their role in raising awareness of political life in general, stressing at the same time the importance to strengthen the parties’ role in the political framework, and to let their programs and objectives serve the national interest in order to push the wheel of political reform.
Al-Kalaldeh also reviewed the Commission’s efforts and achievements carried out along the interval between elections such as the establishment of the Regional Training Institute; signing agreements with international universities to grand master degrees to the Commission’s staff, journalists, media professionals, and those concerned with the electoral process; assessing the previous electoral process with all its phases; and holding advanced specialized courses presented by international lecturers and experts.
Representatives of the National Coalition of Political Parties praised the experience of IEC and its ability to regain the voters’ trust in the electoral process.
It is worth mentioning that a group of Jordanian political parties has decided recently to form a party coalition under the name of “National Coalition”, it includes: the National Constitutional Party, the National Congress Party (Zamzam), the Islamic Centrist Party, the Jordanian Shura Party, the Jordanian Raya Party, the Jordanian Shahama Party, the Equality party, and the National Renaissance Front Party
