Al-Kalaldeh meets international observers
March 17, 2022 The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Khalid Al-Kalaldeh, met today with a number of international observers participating in the monitoring of the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council, which is scheduled to be held next Tuesday, March 22. He stressed the keenness of the Independent Electoral Commission to allow all regulatory bodies wishing to see and monitor the progress of the various stages of the electoral process and provide what would facilitate the tasks of these entities. He added that election oversight is part of ensuring the integrity of the electoral process because of the objective assessment it provides to the Commission of the performance of the Commission and highlighting any irregularities that may accompany the electoral process to be addressed first. Kalaldeh also reviewed the latest preparations of the Authority for the holding of elections for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council, explaining the numbers of voters and candidates, the number of seats allocated to the mayor, the membership of the municipal council and the membership of the provincial council, in addition to the seats reserved for women and the preparation of polling stations, ballot boxes and the mechanism of calculating and extracting results. It is noteworthy that the number of international regulators accredited to participate in the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council reached (11) supervisory bodies, and the number of international observers guests (137) observers.
