Start of the stage of candidacy for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils, and the Council of the Secretariat of Oman 

       

February 6, 2022  The run-up to the provincial councils, municipal councils, and Amman Secretariat Council elections, scheduled for March 22nd, will begin on Monday, and will last for three consecutive days. The Authority indicated that those wishing to apply must apply in person at the headquarters of the election committees scattered throughout the Kingdom during official working hours, as well as obtain the application to run through the website of the Authority. According to local administration law No. (22) of 2021, anyone who has been included in the voters' list is entitled to run for membership of the Provincial Council, the presidency of the municipal council or its membership if it meets the following conditions:

1. Be Jordanian for at least 10 years.

2. To be 25 years old on the first day of application.

3. Submit his resignation 60 days before the date of candidacy if he is an employee or employee of any ministry, government department, official institution, public institution, municipality, Arab, regional, or international body, and the municipal lawyer wishing to run for the presidency of the municipal council, or his membership must terminate his contract with her during this period.

4. To be non-affiliated with any non-Jordanian political party.

5. Not to be sentenced to a felony or misdemeanour that violates public honor and morals.

6. Not to be sentenced to bankruptcy or insolvency and has not been considered legal.

7. Not to be a member of the National Assembly.

8. To be a municipal patent when applying for a nomination. 
In addition to all that has been mentioned, those wishing to run for mayor are required to have a minimum degree in the municipalities of the first category and are able to read and write for the rest of the municipalities, and those wishing to run for mayor or membership of the municipal council must pay the municipal accountant 200 dinars for the first and second categories and 100 dinars for the third category, and this amount is restricted by income to the municipal fund that is not recoverable unless the application for candidacy is rejected, and those wishing to be members of the third category. The provincial council must pay the Ministry of Finance or any of its directorates a sum of 250 dinars that restricts nonrefundable income to the Treasury unless the application for his candidacy is rejected. With regard to the candidacy for membership of the Amman Secretariat, anyone who has been placed on the voters' list for the amman secretariat council elections has the right to run for this membership if it meets the following conditions:

1. Be Jordanian for at least 10 years.

2. He must have completed twenty-five years of age on the first day of the deadline for applying.

3. His resignation must have been submitted one month before the start of the nomination date if he is a member of the National Assembly, an employee or employee of any ministry, government department, public official institution, public institution, municipality, Arab, regional or international body, and any contractor with the secretariat wishing to apply for membership of the Council shall terminate his contract with her during this period.

4. Not to belong to any non-Jordanian political party.

5. Not to be sentenced to a felony or misdemeanour that violates public honor and morals.

6. Not to be sentenced to bankruptcy or insolvency and has not been considered legal.

7. To obtain a disclaimer from the secretariat when applying for nomination. Those wishing to run for membership of the Amman Secretariat Board must pay 500 dinars and pay income to the Secretariat Fund, which is not refundable unless his application for candidacy is rejected, and this amount is refunded. The Independent Electoral Commission also set insurance fees to comply with the provisions on electoral advertising provided for in the law and executive instructions, which are as follows:

 1. Category 1 municipalities:        

_ (600) dinars for the candidate for mayor.

- (300) dinars for the candidate for membership of the municipal council or the provincial council.

2. Category II municipalities:    

_ (400) dinars for the candidate for mayor.

- (200) dinars for the candidate for membership of the municipal council or the provincial council.

3. Category 3 municipalities:

_ (200) dinars for the candidate for mayor.  

_ (100) dinars for the candidate for the municipal council or the provincial council.

4. (1000) dinars for the candidate for the Amman Secretariat Council or for her constituency in the provincial council.

5. (300) dinars for the candidate for membership of the provincial council in the Authority of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone.

6. (100) dinars for the candidate for membership of the provincial council in the authority of Petra province.
