Independent election meets civil society institutions in Irbid
January 30, 2022 In light of the independent electoral commission's preparations for the elections of provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council scheduled for March 22, a awareness meeting was held today in Irbid Grand Hall with civil society institutions in Irbid province, as part of a series of meetings held by the Authority with the partners of the electoral process. Dr. Zuhair Abu Fares, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, reviewed the commission's preparations for the upcoming elections, the conditions and procedures for candidacy and the executive instructions governing electoral propaganda and the voting and counting mechanism, and the integrity guarantees followed by the Commission with the aim of enhancing voter confidence in the electoral process, to reach free, transparent, and fair elections. Dr. Abir Dabana, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, explained the importance of opening the commission to civil society institutions, stressing the role they play in the success of the electoral process by spreading awareness and electoral education among citizens, and promoting awareness campaigns launched by the Authority with the aim of encouraging citizens to participate in elections, expanding their participation in decision-making and raising the percentage of popular participation in the democratic process.
