Independent Election: The conclusion of the training program for media coverage of the upcoming elections in cooperation with the Journalists' Union  

January 26, 2022 The training program "Press coverage of the elections for provincial councils, municipal councils and the Amman Secretariat Council, scheduled for Next March, was held in cooperation with the Training Center of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate and lasted for four consecutive days and was attended by 19 journalists and journalists," the independent election commission concluded today. Dr. Khalid Al Kalalda, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, stressed during his sponsorship of the closing ceremony the importance of partnership between the Authority and the media in all its readable, visual, and audio forms, pointing out the great role played by the media in the success of the electoral process at all stages. Kalalda added that the commission is fully prepared to cooperate with the media and provide the right information to serve the electoral process.  Imad Abdel Rahman, director of the Journalists Training Center, praised the commission's openness to various media outlets, stressing a commitment to professionalism, craftsmanship and responsibility, explaining that the presence of specialized media in the elections enhances citizens' confidence in the electoral process.  The program dealt with many important topics related to the electoral process at all stages, which focused on how to deal with abuses such as vote buying, rumors, violation of electoral propaganda, repeated voting, electoral irregularities, and the role of the commission in dealing with them. The trainers and experts participating in the course also discussed the media, professional standards, the press code of honor, the ethics of press coverage of the elections, the explanation of the mechanism of the election work for the public and the rights of voters and candidates, parties and elections and analysis of the election results. Also highlighted are legislation governing journalistic work during elections, the method of writing coverage, specialized coverage of elections, patterns, and basics of election coverage, as well as the executive procedures for provincial council elections, municipal councils, the Amman Secretariat Council, voting, counting and election campaigns for candidates. At the end of the programme, the kalda distributed certificates to the participants.
