The Independent Election Commission celebrates the graduation of the first batch of students of the Diploma in Electoral Policies

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) celebrated today the graduation of the  first batch of students of the Higher Diploma in Electoral Policy and Administration, from the Jordan Electoral Institute, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Eng. Musa Al-Maaytah, and the President of the University of Jordan,Prof. Dr. Nazir Obeidat. 

 In his speech at the graduation ceremony, Al-Maaytah said: "We proudly celebrate the first batch of graduates in the field of electoral policy and management, a cohort that has left a clear imprint since the beginning of this academic program, so the diversity of its students politically and professionally had an impact on the integration of what is theoretical and applied in a science whose concepts were not framed and whose levels were not collected in the pages of books.

Maaytah added that what distinguishes this batch is the goal sought by the Independent Election Authority in achieving it, which is to provide partisan youth with experience and knowledge in electoral administration, sothat the governing legislation can be reflected as procedures in reality.

On the idea of the electoral institute, Al-Maaytah stated that it came from the heart of the need for a house of expertise in the fields of specialization in electoral sciences and training in their applications, in a way that helps in spreading the electoral culture with pre-awareness, knowledge and practice, and Al-Maaytah also pledged to support this program based on the role of the Independent Election Commission to commit to the field of awareness and education in order to maximize the rights of the voter and the candidate together.
 
Obeidat also spoke addressing the graduates, allow me to congratulate you for this effort, hardship and precious achievement, congratulations on you graduation, and congratulations on the homeland this young people that any country is proud to bear its name; creative youth filled with energy and desire to change the future.

You have gained our trust the moment you were accepted in this program, but confidence alone is not enough, but it fulfills and more if mixed with work, working in the spirit of the group not the individual, we are all sons of this great country, and our concern in the end is collective, to see Jordan as we imagine it; a generous country that is a companion to the weak before the well-to-do, and this is our hope in you, you students of true knowledge, and those seeking the best in whatever place you are in.

Maaytah added that at this moment, we, the organizers of this program, the University of Jordan, and the Independent Election Commission with its various departments, hope that we have provided a role asbefits two ancient national institutions, as we have taken upon ourselves a difficult responsibility in raising electoral awareness and raising the value of academic education.

The graduates' speech was delivered by Issa Malo Al-Ain, in which he said: "We have the right to be proud on this day to be the first batch of graduates of the Higher Diploma Program in Electoral Policy and Management, as this program constituted an important educational station not only because it is an applied science, but also because it has provided our awareness with values that have influenced us as students, the most important of which are openness, acceptance of the other and positive dialogue, as this batch receiveddistinguished professors who contributed to refining our discussions.
The ceremony included the presentation of a short video about the Jordanian Electoral Institute (produced by the Commission), and certificates were handed over to the graduates.

It is noteworthy that the Jordan Electoral Institute was established for the purposes of developing the skills of electoral workers at the local and international levels, by granting the Higher Diploma in Electoral Policy and Management in cooperation with the Prince Hussein School of International Studies at the University of Jordan.
